TERMINAL INFRASTRUCTURE REBUILT FROM THE GROUND UP
Central Civil executed complete demolition and underground utility work for Terminal 1 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport under a $16.2 million contract managed by Hunt-Moss Joint Venture. All new concrete paving was constructed in excess of 16 inches thick with 6-inch Econocrete base and asphalt aprons built to FAA specifications.
The scope included removal and full replacement of water, fire, sewer, storm, and lift station systems, along with construction of major concrete structures — the largest exceeding 120 tons. Work was performed in contaminated conditions with full utility construction protocols and continuous maintenance of airside traffic operations and stormwater pollution prevention.
Large-diameter piping installations included RCP and DIP mains, along with complete earthwork and disposal of all soil and spoils generated from pavement excavation and underground demolition work.
