Project Overview

PRIME CONTRACTOR AT MIAMI INTERNATIONAL

Central Civil served as prime contractor on the $76 million Central Base Apron and Utilities Modification and Expansion project at Miami International Airport — one of the largest apron construction contracts awarded at MIA. The scope encompassed full demolition of existing infrastructure, reconstruction of concrete apron paving to FAA specifications, and complete replacement of underground utility systems including water, fire, sewer, storm, and fuel lines.

Work was executed under active airside conditions, requiring continuous coordination with airport operations to maintain Airside traffic and meet FAA safety requirements throughout construction. Utility construction was performed in contaminated conditions, with full soil and spoils disposal protocols enforced across the project site.

At $76 million, this project stands as one of the most significant single-contract airport infrastructure awards in Central Civil's history — a direct reflection of the firm's capacity to perform complex, high-value civil work in the most demanding operational environments in South Florida aviation.
