Project Overview
HIGH-SPEED TAXIWAY CONSTRUCTION AT FLL
Central Civil performed demolition, underground utility work, and full-depth asphalt runway and taxiway construction for the High-Speed Taxiways and Taxiway Rehabilitation project at FLL under a $25.4 million contract managed by TYLin International. All new paving was constructed to FAA specifications with complete maintenance of airside traffic and stormwater pollution prevention throughout.
Utility work was executed in contaminated conditions, including removal and replacement of storm systems and underground duct banks for power, communications, and airfield lighting. Large-diameter piping installations included 36- to 48-inch RCP mains with associated concrete structures.
All earthwork and disposal of soil and spoils from demolition — including pavement excavation for all underground work — was self-performed, reflecting Central Civil's integrated approach to complex airfield civil construction.
