TAXIWAY C RECONSTRUCTION AT FLL
Central Civil performed demolition and underground utility construction for the Taxiway C East End and High-Speed Taxiways project at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport under a $20.7 million contract with Reynolds, Smith and Hills. New asphalt runway and taxiway paving was constructed to FAA specifications with continuous maintenance of airside traffic operations.
The scope included utility construction in contaminated conditions with full removal and replacement of storm systems and underground duct banks for power, communications, and airfield lighting. Major piping installations included 36- to 48-inch RCP along with associated concrete structures.
All earthwork and disposal of spoils from pavement excavation and underground demolition was self-performed, maintaining strict stormwater pollution prevention and temporary pavement marking protocols throughout the active airfield environment.
