Project Overview

ONE OF SOUTH FLORIDA'S DEEPEST EXCAVATIONS

Central Civil performed mass excavation to 42.5 feet below grade in support of the Port of Miami Tunnel bore machine operations — one of the deepest excavations in South Florida's construction history. The scope included installation of CSM (Cutter Soil Mixing) walls to support the excavation and preparation of the launch pit for the tunnel boring machine.

The depth and complexity of the excavation required precise geotechnical engineering coordination and strict monitoring of adjacent structures and utilities throughout the operation. CSM wall construction provided the structural retention system enabling safe excavation at unprecedented depth for a South Florida civil project.

The Port of Miami Tunnel project is a landmark infrastructure achievement for the region, and Central Civil's excavation and ground support work was foundational to the tunnel's successful delivery.
