Project Overview
APRON AND UTILITY RECONSTRUCTION AT MIA TRACT 1
Central Civil executed demolition and complete underground utility reconstruction for the Tract 1 Utilities and Apron project at Miami International Airport under a $17.5 million contract managed by BND Engineers. New Portland cement concrete paving was constructed in excess of 14 inches thick, with asphalt aprons installed to FAA specifications throughout the project area.
The utility replacement scope included full removal and installation of water, fire, sewer, storm, jet fuel, and power and communications duct bank systems — all performed in contaminated conditions. Major piping installations ranged from 24- to 60-inch RCP and included 12-inch DIP mains with associated concrete structures.
Airside traffic and operations were maintained throughout with continuous stormwater pollution prevention and temporary pavement marking programs.
