Project Overview
COMMUTER FACILITY INFRASTRUCTURE AT MIA
Central Civil performed demolition and underground utility reconstruction for the Regional Commuter Facility at Miami International Airport under a $15.9 million contract managed by TyLin International. New concrete paving was constructed in excess of 18 inches thick and asphalt aprons were built to FAA specifications throughout the facility footprint.
The utility scope included complete removal and replacement of water, fire, sewer, storm, and lift station systems, as well as underground duct banks for power and communications. Major piping included a 4-foot by 8-foot box culvert, 24-inch RCP, and 42-inch DIP mains with associated concrete structures — all installed in contaminated conditions.
Airside traffic and operations were maintained throughout the project with full stormwater pollution prevention and temporary pavement marking programs in effect.
