Project Overview

15,000 ACRES OF WATER MANAGEMENT INFRASTRUCTURE

Central Civil served as prime contractor on the $59.9 million EAA A-1 Flow Equalization Basin project for the South Florida Water Management District — the largest utility infrastructure project in the firm's history. Spanning an overall project area of 15,000 acres, the basin is designed to capture and store peak stormwater flows during wet season and heavy rainfall events, providing critical water storage capacity for the Everglades Agricultural Area.

The project encompassed installation of 2.1 million cubic yards of fill to construct 21 miles of levee, along with degrading of 3.1 million cubic yards of muck, backfilling of 113 miles of agricultural canals, and construction of 14 gated water control structures.

In scale and environmental significance, the EAA A-1 project represents Central Civil's deepest engagement with South Florida's water management infrastructure — work that directly supports the broader Everglades restoration mission.
