General Description

As an Earthwork Foreman, you will direct and lead a crew of hourly workers on a project, and manage all aspects of the crew's work, including safety, planning, production and monitoring performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of construction activities on large earth moving projects.
  • Inspect construction work as necessary and ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards.
  • Be able to perform all of the essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Plan, diagram, and lay-out work.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop a complete understanding of the contract plans and specifications, lay-out, installation and/or construction. Review with Superintendent at the start of and throughout the project.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Listen to other employee's and supervisor's suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of that work assigned.
  • Plan and communicate with purchasing personnel and supervisor to assure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment are available.
  • Monitor quality of work and assure that correct construction procedures are followed and that work is in compliance with the plans and specifications.
  • Complete crew's timecards for correct hours and cost coding.
  • Monitor the progress of the work accomplished relative to the 3-week Short Interval Schedule.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to subordinates.
  • Monitor productivity rates and review with crew members.
  • Ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained.
  • Have a working knowledge of Short Interval Schedules (SIS) and labor management productivity, systems.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards.
  • Be self-motivated and work productively. Motivate crews properly.

Job Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience.

  • Prior experience successfully managing mass earthwork and grading.
  • Complete, compile, oversee and submit various paperwork related to safety, equipment, etc.

General Description

Under general supervision, operates various equipment including loaders, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, combo, dozers, fork lifts, graders, tractors, dump trucks, and trash trucks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive, maneuver, or control heavy machinery
  • Operate Backhoe, Excavator, Grader, Bulldozer, and other construction heavy equipment  
  • Check to make sure that equipment functions properly
  • Clean, maintain, and make basic repairs to equipment
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors
  • Coordinate machine actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals
  • Ensure that safety standards are met

  • Use machines that compact earth and other fill materials for roadbeds or other construction sites.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years work experience within the construction industry

General Description

Responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Unloads and loads materials, reads plans and specifications, tends machines, mixes concrete, pours concrete, and assists carpenters, operating engineers, and other construction site workers.

  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards

Large Production Loader Operator
Reports To: Foreman

General Description

A Large Production Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Loader. This position operates loaders equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered bucket (6+ yards) which is used for production load, off-road and street trucks.

Key Duties

  • Operates or articulates rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers, or chutes, stockpile aggregates, haul trucks.
  • Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader.
  • Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front-end loader forward to force bucket into bulk material.
  • Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump Material.
  • Performs routine daily maintenance on loader, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Operate the equipment over rocky or uneven land safely. Drive smoothly under harsh weather conditions.
  • Other duties as required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily.   • Two years experience with large production loaders
  • This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Front-End Loader Operator.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees in English.
  • One to three years or more of industry related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges.
  • Professional references preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant physical effort, including standing is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day and/or night.
  •  Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis,
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, night work also possible.

  • Direct and supervise the crews on the project site.
  • Performs installation of pipe, fittings, valves, and piping systems.
  • Responsible for installing and potentially managing mechanical projects on-site.
  • Work independently on routine projects with limited supervision.
  • Oversee, supervise, and ensure the proper completion of work when performed and assisted by assigned helpers.
  • Install, diagnose and repair/replace pipe, fitting, and components for piping systems such above and below grade.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or raining; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Three or more years pipe fitting experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to customer facilities through background checks and successful safety training testing.
  • Experience in maintaining job site documentation, i.e. time sheets, As-Built drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Hand tool, power tool, and pipe fitting experience.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to forty pounds.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to forty feet, working in ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

General Description

Experienced underground utility pipe layers to join our drainage, water, and sewer installation crews for underground utilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure pipe routes.
  • Align pipes in pipeline sections.
  • Dig trenches with trenching tools.
  • Slide pipe into trenches.
  • Tell tractor driver where to move pipe in preparation for welding.
  • Insert spaces in between pipes.
  • Pull out defective or misaligned pipes.
  • Correct alignments with sledgehammers.
  • Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications.
  • Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
  • Grade trenches or culverts.
  • Seal joints.
  • Use glue or welding equipment to ensure pipes are tightly fitted.
  • Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels.
  • Cover pipes with dirt or other material.
  • Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines.
  • Perform continual maintenance on pipes and replace those needing repair.
  • Utilize magnetic or radio indicators.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' experience with water main installation, manhole installation, sewer line installation and drainage installations preferred.
  • Will work in wet conditions.
  • Experience in south Florida a plus.
  • Must be a team player, reliable and organized.

Survey Party Chief

General Description

The Survey Party Chief will plan and evaluate proposed field survey projects, manage the field survey teams, prepare, process and coordinate the required field design survey work and construction staking survey work and other surveys and daily survey logs as part of public and private commercial, residential and industrial development projects based on client’s intent/vision, budget, timeline, jurisdictional requirements and community needs and concerns. In addition, the Survey Party Chief will lead the company's field survey team in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as party chief for a field survey crew engaged in making plans and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives; assigns and monitors work, and provides input for evaluation of members of the field survey crew; is the senior field surveyor in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures.
  • Gathers field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods; sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepares field notes and drawings; performs field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
  • Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, personal computer, and graphics software, such as AutoCAD; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy; provides survey information for Geographic Information System (GIS); and prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, ALTA Surveys, corner staking, etc., and other survey reports.
  • Researches existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; and maintains field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems.
  • Insures the integration of field data and records into completed maps, plats, drawings and records.
  • Assists in construction, design, topographic, hydrographic, property and all types of control surveys.
  • Assumes responsibility for the company survey equipment and oversees equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Produces accurate detailed maps with accurate surveying data in a timely manner.
  • Sets up, operates and adjusts all types of survey equipment, including a level, transit and electronic measuring device.
  • Makes trigonometric calculations, such as adjusting traverses and calculation of coordinates, control points, quantities and areas.
  • Prepares and reviews maps, drawings, sketches, plats and simple reports from field notes and makes recommendations.
  • Trains other crew members on the latest technology in surveying equipment and finds new and innovative ways of doing surveys.
  • May perform mapping compliance or other related office survey duties as a temporary assignment to satisfy the training/experience requirement for the Professional Land Surveyor's License.

Develop, prepare, and present plans, reports, supporting documentation, and presentations.
  • Read, understand, interpret and analyze complex regulations, standards and a wide variety of information related to planning and environmental issues available in a wide variety of formats.
  • Analyze a variety of information or issues and effectively use independent judgment in interpretation of information, decision making, problem resolution, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct field visits and inspections at construction sites and a wide variety of outdoor locations by safely navigating all types of terrain, potentially hazardous sites, and in all weather conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs daily truck equipment inspections and all required safety equipment including, but not limited to; tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water, etc. before each shift to assure equipment is safe for usage.
  • Completes written daily D.O.T. inspection report as required.
  • Safely drives truck and materials to various destinations
  • Understands how to use cranks and levers inside of the truck to dump contents of bed and tilt body
  • Submits request for maintenance for any repair items on days it occurs.
  • Assist with proper and legal loading of materials for transport as designated by dispatch center.
  • Weighs in and out at scales for load ticketing and legal weight compliance.
  • Operate truck safely to and from project destination and prepares and acquires customer signature receipts for load delivered.
  • Maintains telephone and/or radio contact with dispatch center for instructions.
  • Pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents. Move hand and foot controls for truck movement forward and backward and to loosen and dump material adhering to body.
  • Positions tarps to secure load for transit.
  • Written inspections are turned in to designated locations or personnel.
  • Performs all safety procedures required by governmental agencies and those established by Central Civil
  • Employee may be sent to other facility locations and operations to perform duties as required.
  • Always use three points to mount or dismount the truck or the equipment. Do not jump to the ground.
  • Report any damage/Accidents/Incidents to your direct supervisor.
  • Top off fuel in truck every day, at the end of your rounds.
  • Drain air tanks on truck and on-air compressor at the end of the day (Daily) when truck is parked.
  • Keep truck clean inside and outside. Truck is to be greased and washed every Friday afternoon.
  • Notify supervisor if you will be out before scheduled time to report to work.
  • Work in an efficient manner without disturbing other activities/co-workers from their assigned duties
  • All other duties as required or assigned by the supervisor.

  • Must have a CDL Class B.
  • Must have a good driving record and be insurable by the company's vehicle insurance.
