Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of construction activities on large earth moving projects.
  • Inspect construction work as necessary and ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards.
  • Be able to perform all of the essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Plan, diagram, and lay-out work.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop a complete understanding of the contract plans and specifications, lay-out, installation and/or construction. Review with Superintendent at the start of and throughout the project.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Listen to other employee's and supervisor's suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of that work assigned.
  • Plan and communicate with purchasing personnel and supervisor to assure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment are available.
  • Monitor quality of work and assure that correct construction procedures are followed and that work is in compliance with the plans and specifications.
  • Complete crew's timecards for correct hours and cost coding.
  • Monitor the progress of the work accomplished relative to the 3-week Short Interval Schedule.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to subordinates.
  • Monitor productivity rates and review with crew members.
  • Ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained.
  • Have a working knowledge of Short Interval Schedules (SIS) and labor management productivity, systems.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards.
  • Be self-motivated and work productively. Motivate crews properly.

Job Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience.
  • Must be reliable and dependable
  • Grade checking capabilities.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team.
  • Prior experience successfully managing mass earthwork and grading.
  • Complete, compile, oversee and submit various paperwork related to safety, equipment, etc.
  • Timecard and diary entry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review bid proposals
  • Follows up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received
  • Provide preliminary estimate for bond
  • Provide scope invitations to vendors and subcontractors (min 3 per discipline)
  • Comprehensive take off of plans
  • Provide summary of minority goal requirements
  • Evaluates project specifications and drawings
  • Works closely with the project management and construction teams
  • Tracks as-builds and coordinates Municipal sign offs to obtain performance and payment bond releases from public agencies as soon as work is complete.
  • Establishes and maintain respectful and cooperative work relationships with co-workers, field personnel, sub-contractors, architects, owners, general contractors and other business associates.
  • Maintains status of plan reproduction
  • Solicits and maintains communication with sub-contractors and vendors
  • Transmits addenda and other bid information to sub-contractors
  • Prepares sub-contractor bid packages and Request for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Ensures that there is proper coverage from sub-contractors on bid day
  • Submits 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline
  • Responsible for ensuring that all quantity surveys and pricing are accurate and complete
  • Compiles lists of type of materials or equipment requirements, utilizing knowledge of services to be performed, or type of structure to be built using blueprints and specifications
  • Itemizes tools, fixtures, or equipment to be manufactured by company or purchased from outside sources
  • Computes cost estimates for materials, purchased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor
  • Follows professional work practices, company policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and meet work commitments
  • Properly turns over bid document information to Project Management in a timely manner
  • Reviews drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern
  • Reviews job costs with Project Management team and highlights any subs/material vendors that still need to be awarded
  • Seeks and qualifies new subcontractors
  • Ensures that Subs are aware of (and commit to) the project schedule
  • Provides cost/ benefit analysis of building systems and provide value engineering input during the estimating process
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years commercial construction estimating experience
  • Candidates with a degree in Construction Management may be given preference
  • Excellent computer skills, including Primavera or Microsoft Projects, MS-Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Candidates must have strong time management and organizational skills with an extreme attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Proficient in blueprint reading
  • Experience with high density wood (wood frame construction)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to become familiarized with design documents, write scopes of work for all divisions of work, and assemble competitive estimates
  • Ability to effectively manage daily work output, meet bid deadlines, and work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to represent the company on pre-bid job walks, ask pertinent questions, and relay site visit information to other team members and trade-contractors as required.

General Description

Under general supervision, operates various equipment including graders, tractors, backhoes, front end loaders, dump trucks, and trash trucks. May also include forklifts and front skid steer loaders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive, maneuver, or control heavy machinery
  • Operate Backhoe, Excavator, Grader, Bulldozer, and other construction heavy equipment  
  • Check to make sure that equipment functions properly
  • Clean, maintain, and make basic repairs to equipment
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors
  • Coordinate machine actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals
  • Ensure that safety standards are met
  • Move construction materials, earth, and other heavy materials at construction sites.
  • Use machines that compact earth and other fill materials for roadbeds or other construction sites.
  • Excavate for and set underground utilities.
  • Safely excavate around existing utilities

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years work experience within the construction industry
  • Experience with Backhoe, Excavator, Grader, Bulldozer, and other construction heavy equipment
  • Ability to multi task effectively and efficiently in a dynamic fast pace environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and manage cross-functional teams
  • Must be a team player, reliable and organized.
  • Must have experience working in a fast pace, demanding environment
  • Problem Solving Skills, Timeliness, and Pride in your work product are essential for success in this position
  • Knowledge of grade control systems a plus.

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • As an employee of Central Civil Construction, the employee will be required to comply with random drug and alcohol testing.

General Description

Responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Unloads and loads materials, reads plans and specifications, tends machines, mixes concrete, pours concrete, and assists carpenters, operating engineers, and other construction site workers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards
  • Commonly assist craft workers by carrying materials.

Land Survey CAD Drafter

General Description

The Land Survey CAD Drafter assists the project team by performing office and CAD-related activities under the direction and guidance of the Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Downloads and processes field data in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Interprets and plots record deeds and plats for all types of property surveys.
  • Prepares all types of surveying plats and exhibit drawings utilizing research and the information gathered in the field.
  • Interprets and addresses the title commitment items per ALTA/NSPS requirements.
  • Performs stakeout calculations for construction sites.
  • Prepares documents including; Topographic maps, ALTA surveys, Boundary surveys
  • Duties will primarily be office related but may require occasional field work associated with all facets of surveying including topographic mapping, control surveying and construction layout.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree (or higher) in Surveying/Geomatics or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).
  • 2 years of experience as a CAD Technician or similar role.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of surveying laws and state standards for boundary analysis and computations.
  • Knowledge of survey data processing preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of surveying equipment preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office and Google Earth.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Job Description

  • Will provide technical, leadership, and business development capabilities to the firm.

Job Requirements

Experienced underground utility pipe layers to join our drainage, water, and sewer installation crews for underground utilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure pipe routes.
  • Align pipes in pipeline sections.
  • Dig trenches with trenching tools.
  • Slide pipe into trenches.
  • Tell tractor driver where to move pipe in preparation for welding.
  • Insert spaces in between pipes.
  • Pull out defective or misaligned pipes.
  • Correct alignments with sledgehammers.
  • Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications.
  • Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
  • Grade trenches or culverts.
  • Seal joints.
  • Use glue or welding equipment to ensure pipes are tightly fitted.
  • Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels.
  • Cover pipes with dirt or other material.
  • Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines.
  • Perform continual maintenance on pipes and replace those needing repair.
  • Utilize magnetic or radio indicators.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with water main installation, manhole installation, sewer line installation and drainage installations preferred.
  • Will work in wet conditions.
  • Experience in south Florida a plus.
  • Must be a team player, reliable and organized.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor on construction sites.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management or relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of total construction experience with a minimum of five years of recent, relevant experience in underground utilities, road work and strongly preferred.
  • Well-developed sales and business development skills and the ability to close new business and grow business with existing clients.
  • Proven experience managing preconstruction services and leveraging subcontractor relationships to meet and exceed client needs.
  • Strong financial skills including budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial statements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills and the ability to run meetings at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and establish strong interpersonal connections at all levels of the organization; conduct business, internally and externally with professionalism and tact.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to develop and challenge direct reports to improve performance and develop knowledge, skills and abilities.

General Description

The Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established minimum standards. The CQCM role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with other in-house personnel, including Project Managers, Project Coordinators and external personnel to produce and document a quality product. The QCM reports directly to the Project Manager and the VP of Construction. This position will be based out of Medley, Florida.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Minimum of 5-10 years construction experience on construction quality control
  • Have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract, each subcontract and the plans and specifications in order to assist the Project Manager in development of the on-site procedures
  • Create, update and maintain the project submittal log and all other project specific quality control reports
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner
  • Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work
  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems
  • Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices
  • Represents Company in project meetings, client meetings, etc.

Summary

The Survey Party Chief will plan and evaluate proposed field survey projects, manage the field survey teams, prepare, process and coordinate the required field design survey work and construction staking survey work and other surveys and daily survey logs as part of public and private commercial, residential and industrial development projects based on client’s intent/vision, budget, timeline, jurisdictional requirements and community needs and concerns. In addition, the Survey Party Chief will lead the company's field survey team in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as party chief for a field survey crew engaged in making plans and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives; assigns and monitors work, and provides input for evaluation of members of the field survey crew; is the senior field surveyor in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures.
  • Gathers field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods; sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepares field notes and drawings; performs field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
  • Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, personal computer, and graphics software, such as AutoCAD; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy; provides survey information for Geographic Information System (GIS); and prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, ALTA Surveys, corner staking, etc., and other survey reports.
  • Researches existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; and maintains field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems.
  • Insures the integration of field data and records into completed maps, plats, drawings and records.
  • Assists in construction, design, topographic, hydrographic, property and all types of control surveys.
  • Assumes responsibility for the company survey equipment and oversees equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Produces accurate detailed maps with accurate surveying data in a timely manner.
  • Sets up, operates and adjusts all types of survey equipment, including a level, transit and electronic measuring device.
  • Makes trigonometric calculations, such as adjusting traverses and calculation of coordinates, control points, quantities and areas.
  • Prepares and reviews maps, drawings, sketches, plats and simple reports from field notes and makes recommendations.
  • Trains other crew members on the latest technology in surveying equipment and finds new and innovative ways of doing surveys.
  • May perform mapping compliance or other related office survey duties as a temporary assignment to satisfy the training/experience requirement for the Professional Land Surveyor's License.

General Description

Construction drivers operate vehicles such as forklifts, dump trucks, mixer trucks, asphalt rollers, crew buses and fuel trucks. While not driving, drivers may be expected to perform maintenance on their vehicles such as cleaning the interior and exterior, filling the gas tank or taking the vehicle to get scheduled repairs.
